Numeration:

I had the idea of the XPRIZE Foundation in 1993, and by 1996 we announced the $10M XPRIZE for Spaceflight under the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.

In order to fund the purse, I pitched to over 150 CEOs between 1996 and 2002, and was told NO over and over again. Finally, I met the Ansari family who agreed to fund the $10M dollar prize.

A few years later, on October 4, 2004, the first $10M Ansari XPRIZE was won by Burt Rutan, backed by Paul Allen.

I never gave up because of my deep passion to unleash commercial spaceflight.
